Intergenerational Obesity and Cardiometabolic Risk
This project includes the evaluation of maternal BMI and adiposity measures before and during pregnancy in relation to offspring growth and cardiometabolic health outcomes from birth to adulthood in a large, longitudinal sample.
Prenatal Environment, Placental Gene Expression, and Infant Development
This project involves investigation of perinatal maternal risk factors (e.g., obesity and health indicators) in relation to placental leptin gene expression and infant health outcomes to identify an epigenetic mechanism accounting for intergenerational health risk.
Maternal Perinatal Physical and Mental Health and Infant Growth and Neurobehavior
This project entails assessment of interactions between women's physical (e.g., nutrition, weight, physical activity) and mental (e.g., depression and anxiety) health before and during pregnancy. Additionally, these interactions will be explored in relation to infant growth and neurobehaviroal development from birth to 1 month of age.
Prenatal Risk Factors and Mechanisms Underlying Cardiometabolic and Neurobehavioral Offspring Risk
This project will include modelling of relations among all maternal health indicators referenced above in relation to offspring development from birth to 6 months of age, while considering biological (fetal stress hormone exposure) and behavioral (maternal-infant interactions) mechanisms which may account for infant outcomes.
